Notes for R-23 / R -24 Apex Missile System

This missile was developed in both IR and SARH Versions for the Mig-23. As such it was the first Russian tactial system to use SARH.

The initial versions were the R-23T (IR homing) and R-24R (SARH). Sometime in the 1980 a two new versions were developed the R-24T/R-24R. These were very similar but of improved performance ( and slightly higher weight) which matched them to a similar upgrade to the Mig -23 radar system.
